Highly Effective Teachers and Principals
Teachers and Principals who have the knowledge, skills, passion, and ability to inspire their students to high performance are needed in every classroom in Prince Georges County. I will work with the Prince Georges County Public Schools Superintendent and Board Chair to ensure that resources are available to recruit, train, and retain highly effective teachers and principals for our schools.
Innovative, High Quality Schools
Our County needs schools that effectively meet the educational needs and interests of children, serve the longterm humanitarian and economic interests of the County, and produce students who are prepared to lead and
serve our citizens, our region, and our country in the future. To achieve this, I will establish the Prince Georges 2020 Schools Fund, and will invest public funds and actively seek private funds and partnerships to help our school system establish high quality public school options that offer innovative educational programs and strategies that successfully prepare children for education and work.

My Prince Georges 2020 Schools Fund will invest in the establishment and expansion of successful models for achieving these aims.

To ensure parents have these skills, 2020 Schools Fund will select a partner agency to offer workshops, training, and an interactive informational internet resource that provides parents with the information and guidance they need to help their child prepare for, access, and pay for college and career training.
Specialized Programs for Young Men and Women

There is also evidence that shows girls are still under-represented in math and science fields, and related occupations. To address these and other issues, my 2020 Schools Fund will promote and support gender-specific school-based partnerships and community programs that aim to produce academically successful and college and career-ready young men and
